The Walking Dead Mid Season Recap

Well last night was the mid-season finally, and boy did they hit us in the heart with this one. But more on that a little later. First lets go back over the main points of the show this season so far. A herd of walkers moves in on the group as they are scavenging cars on the highway for supplies, Sophia freaks and takes off running into the woods. Rick follows after her, leaves her hiding under some large tree roots next to the river and leads the two walkers chasing her away. He makes quick work of the walkers, but Sophia is gone when he returns. The next day the search for Sophia continues, Rick sends the rest of the group back while he and Shane go on. Carl pleads to stay with his father, and Rick gives in. Dale and T-Dog stayed behind at the highway, and T-Dog had cut his arm during the herd's arrival, and the gash is becoming infected. Rick, Shane, and Carl happen upon a deer in the woods, Carl moves up on the deer, mystified, as Rick and Shane watch. Just as Carol reaches out to the deer, a bullet burst through the deer and takes Carl down. The hunter responsible (Otis) rushes out of the thicket, and points Rick in the direction for help. Oh did I mention that Andrea is not allowed to carry a gun, law set down by Dale, since he believes her to be suicidal after the incident at the CDC.

Rick arrives at Hershel's farm with Carl in his arms. Hershel acts quickly and with little question. He needs to operate but doesn't have the equipment needed to put the boy under. Shane volunteers to head to the school where a FEMA station had been. The problem is that it is over run by walkers. Otis feeling guilty for shooting the boy, and being a former EMT also volunteers and he and Shane are off. Rick must stay behind to give blood to his son. Hershel's daughter (Maggie) decides to ride over and tell the boy's mother what has happen and bring her back to the farm.

Lori wastes no time with questions and rides off with Maggie, despite Daryl's apprehensions. That night Daryl can't sleep, so he and Andrea take a walk around to look for Sophia. What they find is a campsite with a zombie hanging in a tree. Andrea wants Daryl to kill it, but he says: "Why? It ain't hurting anything." She then makes a deal with him after he asks her what is going on with her, an arrow for an answer. Her answer is a bit vague, but at least we learn that she isn't going to off herself at the first chance. Daryl puts an arrow in it's head anyway. Shane and Otis get caught up at the school, surrounded in the gym, Otis comes up with a plan. He will lead them off, down into the locker room, giving Shane time to climb the bleachers and get out the window. Shane seems to be not sure of the plan, worried that Otis will be heading for a dead end, but Otis assures him that it isn't and that the windows down there are more his size. Otis runs, Shane goes out the window, hurting his ankle in the process. Otis catches up to him outside and the two run side by side with a hoard of walkers close on their heels. When there ammo gets low, Shane puts his last bullet into Otis' leg, leaving him for zombie bait as he runs for the truck. When Shane returns to the farm he only tells them that Otis died a hero. Hershel and Patricia perform the operation, and after he and Rick tell her the fate of her beloved husband.

The following morning the remaining members of the group arrive at the farm. Maggie and Glenn go into town for medical supplies, and end up doing the horizontal mambo on the pharmacy counter.

The search for Sophia goes on, and Daryl takes a horse from the farm and rides up river. The horse spooks shortly after he finds Sophia's doll in the river. He tumbles down a small cliff into the river, landing hard, and with his last arrow through his side. He ties off the arrow with his shirt and climbs back up, only to fall just before reaching the top. He long lost brother appears, riding him hard, pushing him to get up and do what he needs to do in typical Merle style. Daryl's head finally clears only to find Merle gone and a walker chewing on his boot, and another closing in. He bashes the knoller's head in with a rock, pulls the arrow from his side, loads it, taking the remaining walker out with a close range head shot, then back up the side he goes. Merle comes back for more slanderous pep talks, and is gone again once Daryl reaches the top. Daryl makes it back to the farm, look worse for ware, covered in blood and wearing his zombie-ear-necklace that he devised from his kills at the river, only to be shot in the head by Andrea after she mistook him for a walker.

Some where in there the group finds a zombie down inside one of the drinking water wells. The decide to drag it out rather than killing it and contaminating the water. Glen goes down with a rope, nearly gets dropped, but manages to snare it anyway. The zombie gets stuck at the top, and rips in half. The bottom part falling back into the well, the top on the ground and hungry. Of course they smash it's head in, and Maggie doesn't like that too well.

Shane gives everyone shooting lessons, and Andrea is his top student. They go up to a suburb where they believe Sophia might have went. Andrea is a perfect shot as long as the target isn't moving, but when they are quickly surrounded by walkers, Shane clears the car, and her gun jams. They are closing in, and Shane forces her to get the job done, and she does. On the way back to the farm Andrea gets frisky, and they krissen Shane's new ride in the middle of the road.

After a dinner prepared by Lori and Carol, Glenn goes out to the barn to meet up with Maggie for another round of loving. He had slipped her a note as to where to meet, and when she finally reads it, she freaks out, and runs out to stop him. But it's to late, he has already climbed up inside the loft, and ready for more hot sex, until he realizes the barn is full of zombies.

Oh and before I forget Lori is pregnant too, and only Glenn knows, which he ends up telling Dale, along with the fact that Hershel has a barn full of walkers. Soon Glenn is back on his way into town, a special mission for Lori. Maggie of course rides along. But this time it's not sex she gets, but attacked by a walker. Glenn plays the bad ass and takes the things head nearly off with a shelf, then finishes the job with his axe. The worst part of the trip is that Lori had sent them for the day after pills, which she takes and then quick throws up. Rick finds the empty cartons and confronts her. This is also the moment he learns about Lori and Shane. He takes it well, all most to well.

Of course Shane too learns about the baby soon after, and Glenn spills the beans about the barn. Shane flips out. They all do, but Rick calms things a bit, giving him time to talk to Hershel. Needless to say the talk does not go well. Hershel is stuck in his belief that they are just sick and can be cured. Later Hershel comes to Rick for help, help that turns out to be retrieving a pair of walkers from the swamp. Which used to be Otis' job. Meanwhile Shane arms the group once again, fighting to take control over the group from Rick. Just then they see Rick and Hershel bringing the two walkers to the barn with pole snares. Again Shane flips, charges down to them with everyone behind him. He goes into a rant and to prove his point to Hershel that the walkers are not people anymore, he shoots the one Hershel is leading, showing that no person could survive such a wound. Then of course finishes it off with a shot to the head, taking Hershel to the ground with the walker. Shane to further his point breaks the lock off the barn and opens the door, freeing the zombies inside, which includes Hershel's wife and step-son.

The group starts cutting them down one by one as they exit the barn. Glenn not sure what to do, looks to Maggie. She gives him a nod, and he joins the shooting gallery. The bodies pile up quickly, and then one final walker steps out of the barn. A small child, a girl, her hands over her face blocking the bright sunlight. When she lowers her arms, and focuses on the group we see clearly that it is Sophia. Carol screaming and crying, while the others stand frozen, including Shane. Rick is the only one that steps forward to do what needs to be done. With tears in his eyes, and guilt set in his heart, he pulls the trigger, sending Sophia to the ground.

There of course was plenty of other things that happened through the first half of the season, such as the confrontations between Shane and Dale. First being over Otis, and when Shane took aim on Rick back in season one. And then again when Dale took all the guns and tried to hide them in the swamp. Shane had tracked him down, and pushed Dale to take aim on Shane. Dale of course backed down, but I don't think this is near being over between the two of them. Then there was when Shane confronted Lori about the baby, where she told him that even if it is his, Rick is the father. As far as I am concerned Shane has gone way over the edge, and everyone had better watch there backs from now on. He ever got into it with Daryl at the barn before releasing the walkers. Definitely not a smart move on Shane's part, but a fight I would like to see play out.

Well I guess that is it until February... see all you dead fans then.

The Walking Dead mid season finally

This is the week of the Walking Dead mid-season finally. What is up with breaking up a season into two halves? I for one don't like it, and it seems nearly every show I watch does it anymore. Why? Why must we be tortured so? Ok, enough venting. Tonight's episode looks to be intense, packed with a lot of emotion. What is going to happen for sure we will all find out tonight, so make sure you are tuned in at 9pm ET. If you happen to miss it, I will have a recap of the episode and the entire first half of the second season tonight or tomorrow.

Grimm, Another Supernatural TV Thriller

Grimm is one of the latest American fantasy/thriller/crime drama series. It debut on NBC on Oct. 28, 2011, and airs Fridays at 9pm ET.

If you haven't already figured it out, the show is a dark cop drama where characters inspired by Grimm's Fairy Tales exist.

The show is set in present day Portland, Oregon. It follows homicide detective Nick Burkhardt (David Giuntoli) that discovers he is a descendant of a group of hunters known as Grimms. The Grimms fight to keep humanity safe from the supernatural creatures of the world.

"Grimm" is definitely worth a look. It has plenty of drama, and action to keep you coming back every week. The special effects are pretty good too. I'll be watching.

The Walking Dead Season 2 Update

Well folks, looks like little Carol is going to be just fine. I have to say he is one tough kid, and did you notice he was shot in the same place as is dad? How cool is that for bragging rights to your friends, if he ever has any again. And what about the bloated swimmer in the well? GROSS! There is no way I would be drinking from that well, even if they wouldn't have pulled the sucker in half, trying to get him out. Then there's Shane... What is going on in his head? Has he completely gone over the edge? On another good note, Glen got laid at least, but what is the Old man himself hiding, something is just not quite right about him. On a future note looks like big brother is coming home next week, things should get interesting for sure, even without any zombies around.

Vampire Diaries Season 3 Episode 3

Episode 3 takes us deeper into Stefan’s evil past. While Elena and Damon track Klaus and Stephen to Chicago, with a little help from Katherine, we learn that Klaus was not the first original vampire Stefan has known. The first was Rebecca, Klaus’ little sister. Not only did Stefan know her but was in love with her, and even more surprising was best friends with Klaus. All of which had been block from his memory by Klaus all those years ago, but are back now, and so is Rebecca (Claire Holt). Meanwhile Caroline is locked away being tortured by her father in an attempt to cure her craving for human blood. His idea? Reset her mind that blood equals pain. Every time she vamps-out when he sticks a bag of blood under her nose, daddy simply opens the shutters, letting the sunlight fry his little girl. After a full day Caroline is rescued by her mother and Tyler.

Elena finally gets her face-to-face with Stefan, but she doesn’t like the results. He lets her know that in no way or form will things be the same again, and to just let him go. Of course that is before he is reunited with Rebecca. This is proving to be the best season of Vamp Diaries yet, with more twists to come I am sure.

Torchwood Miracle Day Episode 10

What... What... What? I'll tell you what... best Torchwood ever, that's what.

Jack, Gwen, Oswald, Rex, and Ester zeroed in on the 'Blessing'. The CIA headquarters gets blown up, and Jack's blood can reverse the blessing, but it has to be introduced into the blessing from both sides at the same time. No problem if Jack's blood that Rex and Ester had been caring around wouldn't have been blown up too. But Rex and Ester are the clever little duo, they transfused Jack's blood into Rex. Of course Ester gets shot in hopes they will not stop the blessing to keep her alive, but Gwen makes a rather moving speech, and Jack and Rex sacrifice themselves to bring mortality back to Earth. Guess what? They both live, and Oswald plays the hero and blows himself up along with one of the heads of the three families. Rex takes out another before collapsing. Unfortunately Gwen's father dies, and so does Ester. Yes, just as Gwen so elegantly said: "Death has come back."

After Ester's funeral the team talk about if they are going to keep Torchwood together, but before the question is answered Rex receives a text revealing the identity of the mole. When he tries to stop her, she shoots Rex in the chest, and then is shot down herself. Jack and Gwen comfort Rex as he dies in their arms, but just as Jack says that he is gone, Rex takes in a deep breath (much like Jack). Yep, that's right. Looks like Jack isn't the only immortal on Earth any more. The show ends with Rex say to Jack: "What did you do to me?"

Well Torchwood fans looks like we might have another season yet.

Torchwood: Miracle Day, Episode 9

Episode 9 opens with Gwen busting into a pharmacy by driving a car through the front window. Why? Meds for her category 1 father that they have hidden away behind a fake wall in their basement. After the police arrive, looking for her father, finding nothing, the story takes an unusual turn. A delivery man arrives at Gwen's home. But it's no ordinary delivery, or delivery man, and here's one I didn't see coming at all. The delivery man is none other that Oswald Danes.

After Gwen beats the crap out of him with a pot for touching her daughter, he tells them he wants to trade information. What he said is enough for Gwen to call Jack, and soon he arrives. Of course as they work things out the police burst in the door once again, only this time they find her father, and take him away to the overflow camp.

After piecing the information from Oswald and the news reels of the stories that he mentioned, all fixed by Jillie, they believe that the Blessing is somewhere in Shanghai, China. But a little more info comes through, and they are forced to look at Buenos Aires, Argentina as well. But it is Gwen's husband, Reece, That puts two and two together. That they are not looking at one point, but two points that are one, Antipodes. It had been staring them in the face the entire time in the Phicorp logo. So the team splits up... Jack, Gwen, and yes Oswald head for China, while Ester and Rex meet in Buenos Aires. As the team heads out Gillie arives in China and is led to her destiny or fate which ever it may be. For the "Blessing" can kill as well as enlighten.

Jack isn't in Shanghai long before his gunshot starts bleeding again. A single drop of blood falls to the floor, unseen by Jack or Gwen, but it's actions draw Oswald's attention quickly. The blood, Jack's blood moves across the floor as if being pulled from a fixed point... The "Blessing" is calling to Jack, or at least his blood.

Doctor Who: Night Terrors

Wondering what happened on episode 9? Well here it goes...

The Doctor makes a house call. Yep a house call, or should I say an apartment call. He receives a cry for help from a young boy on Earth, and with out hesitation put the TARDIS on course. The Boy, poor little George has monsters in his bedroom cupboard. Or is it George that's the monster? As the Doctor tries to figure things out, Rory and Amy take a wild elevator ride to the other side of reality, where after running for their lives Amy is turned into a living doll made of wood. Soon the doctor realizes what he has been missing, and we learn that George isn't a monster, nor is he a little boy, well not a human boy anyway. George is a lost, terrified, and lonely alien child, wanting nothing more than to be loved. When his unknowingly adopted father shows the boy that he loves him, and always will, the alternate world he had created out of fear dissolves, restoring everyone within it to their proper state.

Not one of the best episodes I have seen, and a let down after "Lets Kill Hitler", but at least the moral is clear... Love conquers all, even in the Doctor's universe.

New Look For One Man's Reviews

Well I did it, changed the blog up a little. Gave it more color and character, and hopefully more pleasing for my viewers. But I'll let you be the judge... Comment to let me know what you think of the new design, good or bad, just be honest.

Vampire Diaries Season 3 Spoilers

Yeah that's right, Vampire Diaries is back with season 3 on September 15, 2011 at 8/7c. What do we have to look forward to? Well...
In a recent interview Kayla Ewell (Vicki) stated that there will be new twists and turns coming, that season 3 is jam packed with action and romance, and Vicki will be right in the middle of it. She also stated that Vicki will come back as more than a ghost at some point, with vengeance on her mind for being cheated out of life. "It's gonna be wild." Kayla said.

Want more? Fine, episode 1 of the third season will be titled "The Birthday". Caroline will be busy planning Elena's 18th birthday party. Nothing knew there, right? That's what she does best. However, Elena will be focused on finding anything that will help her find Stefan. Damon will also be searching for his brother, while trying to protect Elena, and keep her from drawing Klaus' attention.

Meanwhile, Klaus and Stefan are trailing a werewolf named Ray Sutton (David Gallagher), who is working with Matt at the Mystic Grill. Jeremy will struggle to understand why he is seeing the ghosts of Vicki and Anna, since being brought back from death by Bonnie. Alaric will be doing his best to watch over Elena and Jeremy, while coping with his grief over Jenna. Finally, Caroline and Tyler will face a new and unexpected challenge.

When scientist stumble across a fracture in time, the bold notion was born to resettle humanity in the past.

Doctor Who: A Blast From the Past

This post is more for the younger viewers of Doctor Who, and the ones that are new fans. So let me start by saying, Doctor Who did not start in 2005. The first episode appeared on the BBC on November 23, 1963, with William Hartnell as the Doctor. The series ran until 1989 with Sylvester Mc Coy controlling the TARDIS. There was a TV movie in 1996 when Paul Mc Gann took the reigns as the eighth Doctor.

The show took on new life as it was resurrected in 2005 with Christopher Eccleston taking over the role as Doctor number nine. A year later David Tennant became Doctor number ten, handing off the TARDIS key to Matt Smith in 2010.

William Hartnell (#1, 1963-1966), Patrick Troughton (#2, 1966-1969), Jon Pertwee (#3, 1970-1974), Tom Baker (#4, 1974-1981), Peter Davison (#5, 1981-1984), Colin Baker (#6, 1984-1986), Sylvester Mc Coy (#7, 1987-1989, 1996), Paul Mc Gann (#8, 1996), Christopher Eccleston (#9, 2005), David Tennant (#10, 2005-2010), and Matt Smith (#11, 2010-present)

Doctor Who is considered the longest running television science fiction show in the world. It is even in the guiness book of world records. Doctor Who has a total of 777 episodes to date, and it looks to have many more to come.

The TARDIS (an acronym for Time And Relative Dimensions In Space), and as we all know is larger on the inside than the outside. The Doctor's blue Police Box is far more than just a time machine, but a timeless, ageless character in the series, and is as recognized by fans as well as the Doctor himself. Incarnations of the Doctor may come and go, but the TARDIS is the one constant through the entire series.

Vampire Diaries Character Review: Elena Gilbert/Katherine Price

I want to start by saying that Nina Dobrev does a bang-up job portraying the polar opposites Elena and Katherine. Playing a dual role is not easy to start with, and these two can prove to be very difficult, but Nina makes it look easy and natural, even at her young age of 22 years-old. Both Elena and Katherine are so believable, and real, you'll be looking at every girl around you differently, if not a little fearful.

Elena Gilbert, the main love interest in the show is unquestionably sweet, loving, compassionate, and adorable. While Katherine Price, the vampire version of Elena, is vicious, self indulgent, and sensual, to a fault. The only similarities between the two characters is looks, and their love for the Salvatore brothers. They walk different, they think different, they act different, and at times I even hear a difference in their voices. Katherine seems to have a slightly deeper, more whisky kissed voice. Listen closely and you will hear it yourself. Katherine may be every man's fantasy, but Elena is the type of person everyone loves and strides to be, or at least should anyway.

Nina Dobrev was born in Sofia, Bulgaria. She moved to Canada with her family at age two. She also speaks fluent French, English, and Bulgarian - which I'm sure helped her in playing the role of Katherine. Nina has been a fan favorite at the teen choice awards winning Break Out Star Female in 2010, Actress Fantasy/Scifi in 2010 and 2011, and nominated for Female Hottie in 2011, only to be beat out by Selena Gomez.

True Blood

Or should I say Tru Blood. After all that is where the name is to come from, right? The name of the synthetic blood, bottle and sold across the country. That is my first complaint about the show. Why change the spelling in the title? Too corny? Why would that matter, this show is as corny as it gets. Again I didn't watch the show when it first aired. But I had heard some much about it that I took the time to watch the first season one night. Okay, I didn't make it past episode 3. I quickly found myself wondering what the fans of the show seen that I didn't. So I gave it another shot the next day. I literally had to force myself to make it half way through episode 4, and that was as far as I went.

Come on, I had never witnessed such bad acting, terrible accents, horrific writing, and so much down grading stereotyping in a hit show, in my life. Maybe it is because the show is on HBO and allows nudity, and foul language, and that keeps it going. You know the old saying "Sex sells", that is a proven point here. I can not see any other reason for the shows success. Of course I have to give it to the actors, Anna Paquin (Sookie Stackhouse), Stephen Moyer (Bill Compton), Ryan Kwanten (Jason Stackhouse), Sam Trammell (Sam Merlotte), and Rutina Wesley (Tara Thornton) for at least trying to bring the characters to life. An actor is only as good as their script allows them to be. I mean come on, the characters read off like a porn line up, and the story line is running right along side.

I'm sure I will catch a lot of flack from this, but I have to be honest about what I think. Sorry True Blood fans... But if you want to see what good writing is for a vampire tale, check out The Vampire Diaries.

Being Human vs Being Human

Title a little confusing? It won't be for long.

Early this year I caught a new Syfy series called Being Human. A tale of a vampire, a werewolf, and a ghost living in the same home. And as the shows title depicts, their are all doing their best to resume normal human lives. Well we all know that's not going to work, opening many possibilities for the show. I liked what I saw right from the start, but again as has happened so many time to me, I missed the first episode. So like any true fan would I search out what I had missed. Not only did I find the pilot, but I found out that Being Human started in the UK on the BBC two year earlier. That's right, Being Human UK was on it's third season. So what would you do? If your like me, you watch the UK to get more of the story. But the problem was that it was a different story. The principles were the same of course. Vampire, werewolf, and ghost living together under the same roof, the vampire and werewolf even had the same jobs. The character personalities were nearly exact as well, but they were completely different characters at the same time. Here in the US Sam Witwer plays Aidan the vampire, in the UK it's Aidan Turner as Mitchell. Sam Huntington is Josh the werewolf in US, and Russell Tovey is George over the pound. Then you have the lovely and very talented Lenora Crichlow as Annie the ghost on BBC, where as on Syfy Meghan Rath is the tempting poltergeist Sally.

Parts of the story line parallel each other, but for the most part they are entirely different tales. Point in question. In the US version, Aiden befriends a young neighborhood boy that is being bullied. Of course things go wrong, and by the end the boy is dieing. Aiden turns down the boy's mother's request to save his live. But of course Aiden's vamp-girlfriend turns the boy anyway. At the end of the episode Aiden takes the boy out into the woods, to teach him to hunt, but in reality it is a one way trip for the young vampire. He kills the lad. Now this is much the same in the UK take, but Mitchell turns the boy himself, explains it all to the mother and then sends them off on a train to start a new life. That my friends is just one example of very many differences.

Most of my family has watched both Being Human series with me, and we all like both of them, but I have to be honest - We all lean towards the original UK version on the show. Watch it and you will see what I mean. There just seem to be more depth to the characters and the story, rather than relying on the violence to carry the show. Please let me know what you think.

The Vampire Diaries

First I have to say that I just watched the first episode of The Vampire Diaries a few months ago. I had heard of the show, seen some previews, but wrote it off as another teen vampdrama riding on the skirt tails of Twilight. Wow was I ever wrong. This show has fangs as well as heart, and follows the same guidelines that I do in my own writing. Strong, believable characters - don't let the gore fuel the story - and lastly that no character is truly safe. Although there are similarities between Diaries and Twilight, the differences are obvious in the first episode. The casting could not have been better, and the writing is so strong it makes it easy to believe. If you are like me and passed up this show, I suggest that you go out and pick up the first two seasons. But make sure you don't start watching until you have a couple of free days. Why? Because once you start watching you won't want to stop. Season three will be kicking off soon, but I am sure not soon enough for its fan base.

Torchwood says farewell to Dr. Juarez

Dr. Vera Juarez goes down in flames, literally. Dr. Juarez played by the lovely and talented Arlene Tur, meets her untimely demise while investigating the goings on inside one of the overflow camps. Vera, Rex, and Esther all go in to find out what the module is, and what it is for. Vera pushes the leader of the camp to far, and finds her self inside the module with a bullet in her leg and hand. Of course Rex is the one that finds her just as the door locks and the burners come on. Mekhi Phifer plays the part to perfection as he watches his doctor and lover, burn alive. I have to admit that I am sad to see her go, but at least she went out in true Torchwood style. Rest in peace Dr. Vera Juarez, you shall be missed.

That's right Jason Priestly has joined the cast of Syfy's Haven. Priestly plays the role of Chris, who has now become the most loved man in Haven, since his father's death in episode 4 of season 2. Most people would love the idea that every person that laid eyes on them would fawn over them, but not Chris. He hates people. Well all but one, Audrey. But who can blame him, after all she is pretty, sweet, compassionate, and completely immune to his gift (or curse). Will their love bloom, or wither? Only the next episode will tell.
